Yesterday we picked up our son from his grandparents house. He stayed with them Saturday night so we could have a little date night.
Sunday afternoon we stopped by Babies R Us located in Port St. Lucie to pick up a few deals. I had received an email over the weekend with some Bonus Weekend Deals only.
So we were in the market for a lighter stroller and of course couldn't help but picking up other things as well.
They had had a great deal on the Gerber Graduates- 16 for $20. My son absolutely loves these and I find them so easy to take along with me when we are out and about doing errands.
We also grabbed a Paw Patrol Foam Mat which is about 5 feet long by 3 feet high. It came with a little character chase toy as well. It wasn't on sale but for $29 bucks it was a great buy especially staying in a house that's nothing but tile floor.
They also had had the Babies R Us brand baby detergent On sale for $12.64 which was a steal of a deal! That's superbly cheap!
I also got something I'd really been wanting which is a keepsake box and it was on clearance for $14.98!
I also got a free Dr. Browns 4th of July bottle as well. I think they were running some kind of promotion if you spent so much but I'm not sure on that.
Anyways we found a Graco stroller we just loved. It was on sale for $62 and some change. They didn't have any more in stock and the manager offered to give us a discount on the floor model which we happy to take.
We we agreed upon 40% off which was a deal too good to pass up. So when I went to checkout and use my Toys R Us card it kept saying declined. Of course I felt embarrassed and humiliated. My card limit had just been increased and there was no balance on the card. So I tried swiping again and again it was declined. The store thought it could have been caused by their system sending out new chip replacement cards.
So the manager calls customer service for me to find out what's happening. All during this while, one of the employees smiled at us and talked to us. Well the manager goes to the main office and had to call customer service from his own phone. Normally I would have been concerned at this point but this time I wasn't. He came back out within a few minutes and handed me his own phone as Synchrony wanted to talk with me. Well the reason my card kept getting declined is because I had changed my address and they thought it was a fradulent purchase. So I clarified everything with the bank and got it resolved.
Now folks, any other time the store wouldn't help and would tell me that I need to call the bank and go from there. The reason I'm sharing my story is because we received exceptional customer service. It went way beyond anything I'd had in a long time. This manager felt so horrible about our situation with the card he ended up giving us 50% off the stroller. He apologized although it wasn't even his fault. Of course we had money in the bank and could've used our debit card but it was a hard week with the paycheck so we wanted to use our credit card instead.
This guy named Eddie went so far above and beyond to satisfy and please us that we were blown away. In all honesty the entire store was staffed with knowledgeable and super friendly associates. It was a welcome sight truthfully.
The manager has no idea that I'm a blogger and that I'm writing this but I hope everyone will know what outstanding service we received. It's wonderful that managers and employees are always willing to go the extra mile and they certainly did. To those in store #6577 at around 2:40pm our family certainly thanks you from the bottom of our heart. Thank you for treating us like human beings and not scum when our card was declined. Thank you for never showing us that you didn't care. Thank you for understanding. Thank you for reminding us why we shop at your establishment. Thank you for the smiles and the sincerely positive and wonderful experience. Thank you for showing us good still exists and folks care about their job.
Sincerely a stressed out, tired mom who loves her family.
