Part One Of The Story: Now It's the Heat Pump
Needless to say this will take quite some time to explain so I've decided to break it down into parts. Let's start with the current story. Part 2 will describe a few months ago and hopefully Part 3 will describe the resolution.
Yesterday was a great day. I had added several blog posts and felt really excited to be back writing again. I'm sure you know that most of the United States is experiencing an Arctic Blast. For the last week or so we've turned on our Heat Pump mainly at night when the temperatures started dropping into the lower 50's.
We had no problem with the heat working. Well all good things must apparently come to an end when you least expect it. Yesterday morning around 9am I started hearing different sounds coming from the ceiling assembly. It was as if the heat pump was running but it wasn't. I turned up the temperature and noticed it continued to actually get colder in here. I had it set on 74 and it was dropping from 71 to 69 to 68 and holding steady. I checked the vents upstairs and just a little bit of heat was coming out. A hair dryer would blow more heat.
I thought to myself are you kidding me? It was 47 degrees outside and my heat decides to quit working. Great....
Well I called my warranty company as I was told previously that anytime an issue arises I needed to call them first and have a pre authorization just in case. Well I get this guy on the phone and apparently he's sitting on a cactus as his attitude said it all. He just tells me that they won't do anything and that because it's under a manufacturer's warranty I need to call them. He doesn't want to start a new claim or anything so I thought alright I see how you want to play. Of course I jot down the date, time, names and what was said.
Next I call the manufacturer and lord have mercy if you have no clue about your products please educate yourself. This girl while she was nice she had no clue of what to do. Once again I'm getting nowhere.
I call a mobile RV technician whose been out here before (which I'll explain in part 2) and explain what's going on. He knows how to work with the manufacturer and does a great job. I believe in supporting small businesses that truly want to earn your business. Anyways, right now I'm at a complete standstill. He is unable to make it out here until Friday afternoon. In a nutshell, I have no heat pump, using all my electric blankets and portable heaters to stay warm right now.
You might ask why I can’t use my furnace... well I'll explain that in Part 2 as well. Needless to say, every time it gets hot my Air Conditioner decides to blow or if it gets cold my heat decides to give out. It's a no win situation and I'm quite confident mother nature really hates me beyond a shadow of doubt.
Don't worry, Part 2 is even more crazier than this. Stay tuned for the continuing story to be updated by the end of the week.
