Well I had bought the 90 degree hose elbow for my water hookup hoping it'd simplify life but unfortunately it didn't........ The story is beneath the pictures..
So the 90 degree Hose Elbow wouldn't work with our current setup. When we removed our water hose and put in the elbow we ended up actually having a small leak that no matter how tight we got the hose in the elbow it continued to leak. Secondly, you can't use this hose elbow if you want to keep that "compartment" locked. So before giving up all hope I tried to use it with my sewer flush component. We already have the Tornado built in and I thought well maybe this will make hooking up the hose easier with this elbow--- once again we ran into the same issue with it leaking.
Once we took off the elbow and just re-hooked our water hose the leak went away. I was disappointed but it's a chance I took. I ordered the item from Amazon and I only paid around $7 bucks for it. I did contact Amazon and explained to them what had happened and offered to pay the shipping to send it back but one thing I like about Amazon is their outstanding customer satisfaction and service so they gave me a refund without my returning of the product!
Now, I will say the reviews were 50/50 on this product. Maybe it was leaking because of the angle or it could be the age of my RV. I honestly don't know and I won't say it's a bad product because someone else could use it and have no problems what so ever. It could have been that this one piece wasn't molded correctly so I won't say that it's a horrible product because there are too many variables.
So while on the subject, I don't use those white water hoses that are designed for RV's. My husband and I learned very quickly just how thin the material of the hose really is. In early 2014 North Carolina was experiencing where we lived some cold weather with winter weather chances. During one week of just cold weather we plugged in our heated water hose to be on the safe side. Of course the heated tape had burnt through the white hose and with a winter storm approaching within a few days I had to go out and get supplies to redo a new one. I went to Lowe's Home Improvement and bought I think it's a 25ft garden hose, 5 of those long black tubes (looks like a noodle that kids use in the swimming pools) and some tape.
Making the heated water hose really isn't hard, it's just time consuming. All I did was take my heat tape and using electrical tape I wrapped it around the new garden hose to help keep it in place.
Secondly- I took one of the long black tubes and started at the bottom leaving about 1-2 inches open in case of problems or it needing to fit in an enclosed tight fit area. I do this because worst case I can buy a black tube and cut it and wrap it- so no big deal. I put the black tubing on the hose making sure it covers the hose and heated tape and slowly but surely I just wrap the tape around the tube in a circular motion. I continue to do this with the other tubes until I reach the top of the hose and once again I leave about 1-2 inches open.
In a nutshell after that you're pretty much done. Most folks think that making a heated water hose is difficult and costly but in all reality it's not. We use the water filter to help keep out dirt and other yucky stuff and our regular water hose has worked out great for us!
Of course everyone believes something different but hey our system works and we don't have any problems so I guess in a nutshell it's a learning experience for everyone. What works for one may not work for another.
