After nearly two months victory fell into my lap! It will never be about the money but more about the principal. We forget today that while money is a key part of things sometimes it's making sure that a company keeps its word and honors what they back that will mean more than any dollar can be placed upon!
On Friday the 13th while I lay in a hospital bed waiting on my son to make his debut into the world I was going through my e-mails. Sure enough I had one from my insurance company and my first thought was oh great what now. Ironically enough about a week prior to the 13th, I was re-reading my denial letter just beyond pissed off about the whole situation and then in small print on the back of one of the pages it read something to the sort of, "If you have any further documentation please send it to your claims adjuster" and it was at that moment I thought to myself, I'm not letting another insurance company screw me over. You know I pay my monthly fee each month for insurance and as much money as I've paid in they are going to give me a fair and honest review.
So, I sat down at my computer much like what I'm doing now and wrote an e-mail to my claims adjuster explaining what the repair team found out and sent in all the pictures that you can find in the blog or by clicking here: http://thecamperswife.weebly.com/camper-stories/slide-out-soft-spot-is-fixed
I get this e-mail response back about wanting a copy of the invoice and I replied it would be a few days before I could send anything. Well apparently by the time he got my reply that afternoon I get a generic response that he is out of town and will return in a week, so I thought well whatever I'll deal with it in another week. Turns out that following Monday, I had another e-mail from my insurance company but from a completely different adjuster one whom I've never spoke with.
The adjuster goes on in this e-mail and advises me he has reviewed the pictures along with the e-mail and indeed finds out that it wasn't a case of rotting wood as the water was very recent as I had tried to explain from the beginning. He had a full estimate done of labor and repairs and sure enough cut me a check for the difference they had wrote up in an estimate and minus my deductible. Now it wasn't a lot of money but once again it is the PRINCIPAL and I have to admit I was blown away that they even reviewed my claim in all honesty.
I am at least satisfied that I was in the right and I'm sure it pissed them off beyond belief that they not only sent out a very racist claims investigator, told me numerous times how wrong I was and how right they were in their decision and then had to eat their own words and pay out on my claim as I was right. While I still haven't forgot the entire situation needless to say it felt GREAT to stand up and fight the system.
If I can give you any bit of advice hear me on this- it never hurts to question because sometimes it can pay off in the end!
Till Next Time....
