There are some things when you buy an older camper that just reminds you that this is how fast technology is evolving! Our stereo system was just that old so out it went...
You can always tell when you a buy an older camper just how much technology changes. This home of ours had a huge big box 32inch television that used to be in here but we removed it several months ago and actually made it like a small area for our nicknacks so to speak.
There's a 5disc CD Changer with Radio and Dual Cassette Player-- yea you heard that right that came with this camper and two decent sized speakers. Don't get me wrong it's a nice system but in this era technology is so much more improved that sadly I really just don't have much need for this stereo system. So, we have decided to remove it along with the speakers and make some room for other items and just in general put the space to good use.
It wasn't a difficult task in all reality. The main component which was the stereo system was just unscrewing it from the bottom of the wood and making sure it was unplugged.
Secondly, the first speaker had a total of 3 screws that had to be removed. There was one on bottom and two more inside the cabinet next to the speaker that we had to remove. Once removed, we were able to disconnect the red speaker cord and pull it out.
The other speaker was a bit more of a headache. There was three screws once again and two of them were also in the cabinet but this time the third one was a bit more hidden. It was on the bottom of the wood but to get to it, we had to remove the wood trim curtain by unscrewing it and then unscrewing the screw still holding the speaker in place. Once we got all three screws out we were able to unhook the speaker and pull out the red speaker cord.
We weren't exactly sure if the red and green cords would run all the way upstairs to the bedroom speakers so when we decided to pull on the green one we did it very and I do mean very slowly. Believe it or not it easily came through without any problems and we did the same step with the red one.
So thanks to removing the two speakers along with the stereo system we have put the space to good use. The area where the stereo system was has been turned into a mini curio cabinet area where we were able to stack things we love nice and neatly, it's things we are proud of so to speak. The left speaker area we use for storing books, notepads, and other items you sometimes need in a hurry. The right speaker area we turned into my cookbook collection which works out perfectly!
Now of course with imagination you can do whatever would suit you best. You could easily put in small shelves and make a mini bookcase or use it for storage of pots and pans and so forth. The ideas are yours to explore!
Anyways, hope you enjoy the pictures below. I tried to put them in order of how we did things just in case.
Till Next Time....
